The Recreational Program at The Base is designed to give children a positive, inspiring space to enjoy dance, build confidence, stay active and make friends. It offers a balanced blend of solid dance foundations, fitness, musicality and fun — all without the pressure of competition.
High-energy and style-driven, our Hip Hop class teaches dancers rhythm, musicality and groove through age-appropriate urban choreography. Students learn fundamental Hip Hop techniques, footwork, isolations and freestyle skills while building confidence and stage presence.
It’s a fun, upbeat class that encourages self-expression and helps dancers develop their own personal style.
Modern, dynamic and fun — this class is perfect for dancers who just want to get moving. Along with learning powerful jazz choreography, students also develop strong Jazz Foundations and Jazz Technique within the class. They’ll master core skills, build strength and musicality, and then learn how to bring those elements together in longer routines. This is one of our most popular styles, and students love the energy, growth and confidence they gain each week.
Expressive and dynamic, our Lyrical/Contemporary class blends technique with storytelling. Dancers learn fluid movement, floor-work, strength and control while exploring how to express emotion through choreography. It’s the perfect class for dancers who love to move with freedom, feeling and creativity.
Find your rhythm and step out with the enormously appealing tap. Mastering this style of dance can help with coordination, rhythm, musicality and agility. This class is great for students who love music and percussion.
Our Theatre Club is all about character, confidence and creativity. Students explore singing, acting and movement in a fun, supportive environment while learning how to bring stories to life on stage. Each week they build performance skills, teamwork and expression through games, scripts and musical theatre routines.
Our Acrobatics/Aerial class builds strength, flexibility, coordination and confidence through safe, progressive training. Students learn skills such as handstands, rolls, balances, limbering and aerial foundations, as well as strength and shaping required for higher-level tricks. We focus on excellent technique, safe progressions and celebrating each dancer’s individual growth.
These classes are levelled. All new students entering Acrobatics at The Base begin in our Foundations level. Once the core foundations have been taught and assessed, students are moved into the level that best matches their skills.
END OF YEAR CONCERT
Held at the Ipswich Civic Centre each year, our End of Year Concert is the most anticipated event on the TBPA calendar. This special show brings our studio community together and gives our young performers the chance to share everything they’ve learned and loved throughout the year. Watching our students shine on stage is truly a highlight for everyone.
All classes except Acrobatics
At TBPA, we adore everything acrobatics, and we love giving our students a moment to shine. Our Acrobatics Showcase is a dedicated performance opportunity for every child enrolled in our acrobatics program, celebrating their strength, progress and confidence in a fun, supportive environment.
The showcase will take place at the end of Term 3 (TBC), and is a beautiful chance for families to see the growth their child has made throughout the year. All acrobatics students are invited to participate, and those performing will require a specific acrobatics uniform.
Our annual musical is open to all Theatre Club students, and it has quickly become a favourite part of the year. Last year was our very first musical, and it was a huge success - the students loved the experience, and it became one of the most memorable moments for our performers and families.
The program runs during the July school holidays, where students learn the entire show across the week before performing on the weekend. Participation is completely optional - if your child chooses not to be involved, they will still take part in the Musical Theatre piece at our End of Year Concert.
